The 6 Best Beaches in Paleokastritsa (A Local’s Guide)

Paleokastritsa is famous for having some of the clearest water in all of Corfu — and with six bays wrapped around green cliffs, every beach here has its own character. As locals, we’ve swum at all of them more times than we can count. Here’s our honest guide.

1. Platakia Beach — our local gem
Just a couple of minutes’ walk from Sea Breeze Studios, Platakia is a small, peaceful pebble cove with astonishingly clear turquoise water. It rarely gets crowded, the snorkelling is some of the best in the area, and after one swim you’ll understand why our guests call it their own private beach. Our tip: come early in the morning when the water is like glass.

2. Agios Spyridonas — the classic
The main beach of Paleokastritsa, right below the monastery hill. Soft sand mixed with pebbles, organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, and tavernas just steps away. This is also where most boat trips depart — ideal if you want everything in one place.

3. Agia Triada — family favourite
A sheltered, sandy-ish bay with calm, shallow water, making it perfect for families with young children. Sunbeds, a beach bar and water sports are all available in season.

4. Ampelaki Bay — small and quiet
Tucked between the harbour and the headland, Ampelaki is a little pebbled bay that many visitors walk right past — which is exactly why we love it. Great for a quiet swim away from the crowds.

5. Rovinia Beach — the hidden beauty
A short drive (or boat ride) away, Rovinia is reached by a footpath through olive groves. White pebbles, deep blue water and dramatic cliffs — one of the most photogenic beaches in Corfu. Bring water and snacks; it’s wonderfully undeveloped.

6. La Grotta — for a swim with a view
Not a beach exactly, but a tiny rocky cove with a bar built into the cliffside. Popular with a younger crowd for cliff jumping and cocktails. Go in the late afternoon for the atmosphere.

Getting around: Platakia, Agios Spyridonas, Agia Triada and Ampelaki are all walkable from the studios. For Rovinia and beyond, we can arrange a rental car, scooter — or even a small boat, so you can beach-hop the whole coastline in a day. Just ask us!

Staying with us? We’ll happily mark all of these on a map for you and share which beach is best on any given day, depending on the wind. It’s what we do.
